Thames at Maidenhead

Just thought I'd upload some recent pics, these were taken at my favourite spots besides Guards Club Island, heading downstream under the Sounding Arch.

The other day I was rowing at the bow,  Mike in the middle, one oar each, Becky steering, the boat pulled very nicely up stream...I'm hoping to add some video of the river above Boulters Lock soon!

When packing away for the day I found this little Toad hiding in the boat canvas, he has the most amazing old wise man eyes for such a young little creature.

That's Tim and myself out for a quick trip below Boutlers Bridge .

SUN AT LAST!

Sun at last!

It's been torture waiting for enough sun to get varnish on my first skiff build  but it all came together for the bank holiday Monday and boy what a day for launching a new rowboat! The sun was out and the sky was clear.

I'm very pleased with the skiff.  I opted to build the two oared version, but thought it might be pushing it a bit however as it turns out when you're solo she rows trim when rowed from the first seat, with two on board and being rowed from the bow end, she handles just as well.

We rowed up to Boutlers round the back waters, then headed downstream under Maidenhead Bridge, past Guards Club Island, under Brunel's Bridge and a little down stream...Lovely!
